In the month of June, we took contrarian trades, betting mostly that the market would fall. The market had a very large rise at the end of the month, and our short position suffered. Our algorithms suggest a position sizing presently of only 75% of capital, and we’ll be looking for an exit for our short in the month of July.
June was a month to test our tendencies to take positions opposite of where the market had moved. Our pairs system had been modified to take longer positions until we crossed back over or crossed under our volatility-based overbought, oversold thresholds. Where the system was lacking, I felt, was in its timing.
