Analytic Investment has been adding many new positions to their Focus ETF model recently. Last week we told you about the model and a few of the new positions they had added, and this week we’re back to tell you some more.
On October 18th, they added shares of iShares Barclays 10-20 Year Treasury Bond Fund (TLH), a fund that attempts to mirror the performance of the Barclays Capital 10-20 Year U.S. Treasury index. The fund mirrors performance by investing about 90 percent of its underlying assets in bonds that are on the index. On October 28th the fund was trading at a discount to NAV.
The same day, Analytic Investment added the Vanguard Long Term Bond ETF (BLV) to the model. BLV attempts to deliver the same performance as the Barclays Capital U.S. Long Government/Credit Float Adjusted Index. At least 80 percent of the fund’s assets are invested in bonds present on the index. On October 28th the fund was trading at a premium to NAV.
Finally, PowerShares Financial Preferred Portfolio (PGF) was added to the Focus ETF model. PGF’s goal is to replicate the performance of the Wells Fargo Hybrid & Preferred Securities Financial index, and it does so by investing at least 90 percent of its assets in those preferred securities that are represented on the index. On October 28th PGF was trading at a premium to NAV.
