Behind the scenes at Covestor: Jacki Esposito

jackiOur client relations team, working out of our Boston office, spends most of their time talking with current and prospective clients about their investing goals and how Covestor portfolios might help them reach those goals. We caught up with Jacki Esposito, Covestor Client Advisor, at her workstation.

Jacki, why did you choose to work for Covestor, as opposed to one of the larger investment management firms?
I actually did work for a large firm – Fidelity – before coming over to Covestor. I made the move because I believe in Covestor’s forward-thinking approach to investing. Large firms tend to have a much harder time adjusting to opportunities like those that the internet presents.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
The best aspect of being a part of the Covestor team as a Client Advisor is to help our clients with fewer restrictions. By this I mean I have the opportunity to assist our clients in several capacities – for example, in opening their first Covestor account, or building out a comprehensive portfolio of investments. I can take the time needed to help clients determine the correct course of action for themselves, on timeline that works for them – without institutional restriction. That’s what motivates me to come to work each day.

What’s the biggest challenge facing investors today, based on your experience?
It’s clear to me that investors are still facing a great fear of the unknown, and many are still reeling from the events of 2008. Once confident in ‘traditional’ investing methods, many are now seemingly paralyzed as to which direction to go to make appropriate investing choices for their financial future. This is where I feel Covestor adds significant value. We provide transparent solutions and guidance through our Client Advisor Team to help our clients invest in those solutions that best suit them – when, and for how long they choose.

What do you like to do in Boston?
I’m an avid Boston hockey and baseball fan and – though currently on injured reserve – I am a die hard Crossfitter.
