Volkswagen’s Fun Theory Award is dedicated to the idea that “fun is the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better.” This year’s winner, Kevin Richardson, came up with a brilliant approach to lowering driving speeds that was actually turned into reality on a Stockholm throroughfare.
Richardson’s idea was to capture with a roadside camera the cars who keep under the speed limit. The owners are identified by registration numbers, then entered into a lottery. Winners receive cash prizes – and the winning pot comes from fines charged to those caught speeding. Check out the video:
