In his Price Volatility Volume model, manager William Smith uses quantitative analysis to find equities that have been overbought or oversold. Recently, he added Exact Sciences Corp (NASDAQ: EXAS) to the model. EXAS, a colorectal cancer-focused molecular diagnostics company, recently had a jump in stock price. On August 24th EXAS had a closing price of $4.11. On October 26th the closing price had grown to $8.91. On October 28th the company announced that their non-invasive, stool- based DNA cancer and colorectal cancer screening development had been successful during trials.
Management Access, managed by Douglas Estadt, is a day trading model that looks for credible growth stories and news that gets factored into stock prices. Recently, iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX) was added to the model. VXX attempts to mirror the performance of the S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Total Return Index. On November 10th the fund was trading at a premium to NAV.
The goal of manager Robert Giannini’s International Equities model is to focus on long-term investing in international equities while hedging with broad market inverse exchange traded funds. Giannini recently added iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index Fund (FXI) to the model. FXI tries to mirror the performance of the FTSE/Xinhua China 25 index, an index comprised of 25 of the biggest and most liquid stocks on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. It does so by investing at least 90 percent of the fund’s assets in securities of the index and depository receipts that represent securities on the index. On November 10th, the fund was trading at a discount to NAV.
