Why we dumped Netflix and bought the Aberdeen Chile Fund

It’s been awhile since our last update.

In July we bought a small position in Aberdeen Chile Fund (CH), which gives us some diversification into international markets.

We sold Netflix (NFLX) on 7/23/2012 after its big jump and locked in the profits from our purchase in early June. For now we’ll wait for it to drop back down and if it does so, we’ll look to get back into the stock in its mid 50’s.

In August we opened a small position in iPath S&P 500 VIX ST Futures ETN (VXX) at $11.20. This is a small position to hedge us against any future volatility. I am worried about the situation in Europe and this position will help mitigate any surprises from Europe.
